That's Ricardo- looking all grown up...
he came to us as a baby with severe asthma and
required so much additional care. Our workers know
what it is to give everything to raise a child up in love.
This week, their love showed new levels of sacrifice
and my heart was moved. One of Siempre's newest
babies, I think you'd spell her name Itzel, it's hard
enough for me to say... much less spell, a new name
for me, had to be hospitalized with bronchial
pneumonia, the doctor said she came to us with it.
Sick, moved from DIF's care to Siempre and now to a
hospital, my heart broke for the baby. Couldn't help
but ask if anyone had visited her- seemed so lonely a
journey for such a little one -Pastor Israel said that
Siempre's workers have not left her alone for one
minute since she's been gone. They've taken
rotations, some have spent entire days, all have given
extra time- in love, not because they'll earn anything
extra but because little Itzel entered our care and they
take that very seriously. I left humbled by their
dedication and moved to make a better effort at living
in love. I learn so much each Wednesday afternoon.
The miracle continues to move my heart and draw me
closer to Christ. Pray for little Itzel, she's supposed to
be back at Siempre today. Pray for her healing. Pray
that none of the other children get sick. Pray for
Siempre's workers... one of the women said that
Tuesday night at one point every baby was crying at
the same time... YIKES! Pray that God keeps them
strong, healthy and that He continues to build their
hearts of love and compassion. God has blessed
Siempre with loving leadership and they deserve our
prayerful support. Without them, the work could not
happen.

Beginnings looks amazing! The walls
are being texture coated in preparation for paint, all the
windows are in and we hope to be ready for
inspection in early July. If you'd like to come down and
get in a day or two of work- you're invited! Among the
items donated for Beginnings@Siempre were a
number of new, very cool, tankless hot water heaters.
These guys are expensive... and we've got some left.
Ken's posted them for sale on craigslist, but if you'd
like one, email Ken at ken@centralcommunity.com.
We'd rather see friends of Siempre get good deals.
All the money goes to getting the work done! Once the
building's done we still need 10 more cribs, 17 more
infant beds, security video cameras, a wall around the
entire new property... and some simple things like a
sliding glass door... caring for abandoned kids takes
on a very practical nature and it's so much easier
when we all work together. Thanks so much to
everyone who's donated formula, diapers and other
baby "stuff!" Special thanks to those of you willing to
take leadership roles in your community's, collecting,
calling, asking, etc... We made it across the border
Wednesday with a van load of goods- formula for a
month! In the back of my mind I was thinking: 36
babies... God's never let us down and He won't start
now. Thanks so much for all you do.

Vote for Dan! Just click the link, click
the BIG "A" for Angels, then vote for Dan!
People Magazine's All Star's Among
US
My brother-in-law, Dan Hamer, all around great
guy and world's best brother-in-law, also happens to
be founder of a great non-profit called World Shoe
Relief. Over the last two decades he's tirelessly
collected shoes, both new and used, to distribute
among the poor. Many have gone to Siempre when
he's had children's sizes. He's now given away over
250,000 pair of shoes and has been nominated to
represent the Los Angeles Angels as their All Star Among Us. Dan normally
could care less about this stuff- but if he's selected,
he'll get to go and represent the Angels at this years
All Star Game in St. Louis! So click the link and vote
for Dan- Major League Baseball encourages you to
vote as many times as possible - so do it more than
once. Good friends are sharing their season tickets
with us for tonights Angels/Dodger's game where Dan
and the other two contestants will be honored on the
field. Way to go Dan! The Hamer's have been
fantastic supporters of our work in Mexico from day
one and each of them have built at Siempre. They've
adopted children from the streets of Kenya and have
given their lives to saving and caring for orphans, you
can check it out at www.untilthen.org.
Let's
send a REAL ALL-STAR to this year's All Star Game...
plus, I don't think any of the Angels made it! We're
proud of you Dan.

Thanks to everyone who's emailed,
called and written showing an interest in adopting one
of the new babies at Beginnings. We're learning more
about adoption out of Mexico- in fact Adoption Options
in San Diego just helped a family complete a
successful adoption out of TJ last week- so we're
encouraged. Towards that end I'm in the early stages
of planning a Saturday adoption workshop at
Samaritan House@Siempre in early August. We
hope to have a number of the important
representatives available to speak and answer
questions. If you'd like to be part of planning the day
or know of someone who'd like to attend, let me
know. We're growing. God's blessing. At the heart of
it all are a bunch of kids who get out of school this
week... and will have an entire summer at Siempre...
they'd love to have a visit from you and your family.
Come give our workers a break! We're going down
this Wednesday afternoon. You're Invited! You're
needed, now, more than ever.
